Diam, Wine, and Yard Games: A Sweltering Summer Day with Yoann

July 8, 2025

Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting Yoann Canovas from Diam, and let’s just say—we corked out!

Yoann gave our team an in-depth training on all things Diam corks, diving into the science behind what might seem like a small piece of packaging but is actually a major player in the final outcome of your wine. One of the biggest takeaways? Controlled oxygen transfer and the DIAMANT® process. Diam corks are engineered to manage how much oxygen gets into the bottle over time, which can have a huge impact on wine aging and preservation. In other words, it’s not just a cork—it’s an oenological tool.

We learned how Diam uses compression and a proprietary cleaning process to guarantee cork elasticity, performance, and consistency bottle after bottle. He even gave us an exciting sneak peek at a new cork coming in 2026—more on that soon!

And what’s a cork training without some actual wine? Yoann led us through a blind tasting that had everyone guessing, sipping, and maybe even second-guessing. It was educational, engaging, and just plain fun.

After the session wrapped up, we took advantage of the sunny Maine heat (ok, more like sweltering heat) and headed to the East End for some well-deserved chill time—yard games, laughter, and cold drinks in hand.

We’re grateful to work in an industry where innovation meets community, and days like this are a great reminder that learning and bonding can (and should) go hand in hand. Shoutout to Yoann for spending the day with us—and cheers to corks that go way beyond the surface!

Sam Explores Wine in Michigan

February 18, 2025

At Hauser, we value every opportunity to connect with our customers. These visits help us better understand their businesses—especially when it comes to the art and science of winemaking.

Last week, Samantha Dobra, Account Manager at Hauser, traveled to Michigan. She met with both current and prospective customers, strengthening relationships and expanding our presence in the region.

A Special Visit to Mawby

One of the highlights of Samantha’s trip was a visit to Mawby, a respected winery known for its sparkling wines. She met with two of their talented winemakers, who generously gave her a behind-the-scenes tour and shared valuable insights into their winemaking process.

Behind the Scenes: Sparkling Wine Production

Cages After Bottling

The tour began with a look at the cages where bottles rest under a crown and bidule. Some bottles stay here for up to three years, allowing flavors to develop depth and complexity.

Yeast Sedimentation

Next, Samantha observed the yeast sedimentation process. Yeast settles naturally at the bottom of the bottles, an important step in creating sparkling wine’s signature flavor and fizz.

Riddling Rack Process

To prepare for disgorgement, bottles are placed in riddling racks. Over about three days, this process moves the yeast to the crown for removal.

Dedication to Quality

We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to visit our partners, see their process up close, and support their commitment to quality. As Hauser continues to grow, we look forward to building even stronger connections and providing top-notch packaging solutions.

If you would like to speak with Samantha Dobra directly about her trip to Michigan or anything packaging related for your business, she can be reached at samantha@hauserpack.com

This is all cork. The shading is mostly from the bottom of the cork from red wine, the really dark parts create a sort of die from the wine. Mari Vineyards

How our Partners keep up with Sustainability

January 22, 2025

A sustainable packaging future!

Exciting News from Our Partners in Sustainability and Innovation! We are thrilled to share some updates from our partners about sustainability, supply chain, and other related topics. Our partners have been hard at work developing more environmentally friendly options that we can’t wait to share with you.

First off, let’s talk about sustainability. One of the latest trends making waves in the industry is the concept of “Naked Bottles.” This innovative approach involves eliminating the capsule and instead using a printed Origine Diam Cork for decoration. This not only reduces waste but also makes a bold statement in favor of sustainability. It’s truly a game-changer in the world of packaging.

eco solution to sealing your wine with corks

Speaking of sustainability, we’re proud to mention that we have a warehouse located in Seneca Falls, NY. This strategic location allows us to better serve our customers while minimizing our environmental impact through efficient supply chain management.

In other exciting news, we’ve been hearing about the future of lightweighted glass bottles. We are now getting samples of the Air by Verallia- contact us to learn more sales@hauserpack.com

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to champion these important initiatives. Thank you for joining us on this journey toward a more sustainable future!

The world leader in technical cork closures

January 22, 2025

TCA (2,4,6-Trichloroanisole) contamination, commonly known as cork taint, has long been a concern for winemakers and wine lovers alike. But with the advent of TCA-free corks and closures, it’s now possible to say goodbye to the worries of cork taint. These innovative closures provide a consistent and reliable seal, ensuring that wine aging is controlled and oxygen management remains consistent. By eliminating the risks associated with TCA, winemakers can maintain the integrity and quality of their products, allowing their wines to mature perfectly and preserving the full flavor potential. Whether it’s for short-term freshness or long-term aging, TCA-free solutions are revolutionizing the wine industry. Contact us for more information about our Diam corks.
